Barry Kennedy

I'm a student at the NCAD studying Fine Art and Education.

My main area of study is paint, incorporating collage and mixed media. I am currently working on projects that  explore the layering of images that deliver a strong narrative on the city and especially the docklands. Images from the city and docklands feature as identifiable images but have been removed from thier original context with the aim of making them almost invisible on first viewing or vaguely familiar. The subject matter over time has started to concentrate on the sheer power and energy of the forms in the area. Engines, motors, power stations, incinerators are all starting to appear in the images being heavily influenced by the current construction of the Ringsend incinerator against the backdrop of the original poolbeg power station. 

 

The process

            The process is driven by combining drawings, paintings and photographs using techniques of photoshop, print transfer and collage.
